How to learn electronics by making your own Fab Oscilloscope - 13th International Fab Lab Conference, Santiago de ChileList Item 1
Why we don't learn electronics by showing how we can use it to produce our own tools? Coming up from a broader philosophy that tries to understand how things works instead of being lazy and buying them, you will understand the basics of electronics by making a DIY Oscilloscope. The Oscilloscope will be locally produced using standard Fab Lab equipment, and can be later on further replicated or customized by the participants. During the workshop mini lectures about electronics will be given to let the participant understand what they are doing.

How to make BigFDM - Fab Lab ENIT, Tunis Tunisia
Advanced international machine building workshop. Having the Fab Lab equipment and a kit of pre-made parts, local engineering students from ENIT completely replicated from scratch my previously developed large-scale 3D printer BigFDM. Students had to learn about laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC milling, electronics production and design in just one week, to completely make the machine on their own. At the end of the workshop the machine was successfully produced and was able to print large objects. BigFDM is now the biggest 3D printer available in Tunisia.

DUAL SOURCE LASER CUTTER BUILT LIKE A TANK, CUTS MOST ANYTHING - Hackaday.comList Item 2
Laser cutters aren’t the sort of thing that you might think about making at home, but there’s no reason not to if you are careful and do your research. That’s what [Daniele Ingrassia] did with the Laser Duo, an open source laser cutter that has two light sources for cutting various materials. His final product is not a small device: it has a press-formed aluminum case that looks more like a World War I tank than a piece of precision machinery. But that’s for a good reason: you don’t mess about with lasers, especially the 130 Watt CO2 and 75 Watt Yag lasers that the Laser Duo uses.

LaserDuo Is an Open Source Laser Cutter with Two Lasers for a Variety of Materials - Hackster.io
Almost every hobbyist laser cutter on the market uses a CO2 laser, because they’re affordable and versatile. Even a relatively low power CO2 laser can cut most non-metallic materials. But, metals are usually out of the question for CO2 lasers unless they’re very high power, making it impractical for hobbyists to cut metal. That’s why the LaserDuo uses a second Nd:YAG laser for cutting and engraving metals.

MyOrthotics: Digital Manufacturing in the Development of a DIY Interactive Rehabilitation Orthosis - Paper
Digital manufacturing and additive processes have become more prevalent in recent years due to the increased
accessibility of tools and the individualization in the processes of prototyping. In comparison to the past, the
process was individualized, taking months and requiring detailed research and development made by physical
therapists and small manufacturers. Until now, this process is still done in the same long and expensive process.
MyOrthotics is an orthosis development using Digital Manufacturing (Reversing Engineering, 3D Printing,
electronics) to produce an individual and low cost solution for hand and arm disabilities, allowing patients,
therapists, and practitioners to develop this assistive device in collaborative maker spaces.
